The
Blackmagic Design URSA Mini Pro 12K OLPF is a groundbreaking development in digital filmmaking. It features a 12,288 x 6480 12K Super 35 sensor and a 14-stop dynamic range, all built into the award-winning URSA Mini body. With 80 megapixels per frame, advanced color science, and the flexibility of Blackmagic RAW, working with 12K footage is now possible. Additionally, oversampling from 12K allows for the creation of high-quality 8K and 4K images with superior skin tones and unparalleled detail comparable to high-end still cameras. The URSA Mini Pro 12K OLPF also offers impressive frame rates, allowing users to shoot at 60 fps in 12K, 120 fps in 8K, and up to 240 fps in 4K Super 16.
The
URSA Mini Pro 12K OLPF has an interchangeable PL mount, built-in ND filters, dual CFast and UHS-II SD card recorders, and a SuperSpeed USB-C expansion port, among other features.
Virtual production environments can present a challenge for ultra-sharp modern lenses and high-resolution sensors due to the high frequencies of LED matrix in video walls, which can create interference patterns resulting in moire and aliasing. However, using an optical low pass filter (OLPF) can help minimize this interference. The URSA Mini Pro 12K OLPF features a high-performance OLPF that is precisely matched to the 12K sensor, providing a reduction in moire and aliasing while preserving color and critical image detail. Additionally, the updated IR filtering in the OLPF improves far red color response, further enhancing image fidelity when combined with Blackmagic RAW processing. Not shooting on LED video walls? Save with the regular URSA Mini Pro 12K.The extreme resolution offered by the URSA Mini Pro 12K OLPF goes beyond traditional motion picture film, providing users with incredible detail, wide dynamic range, and rich, deep color. This makes it perfect for feature films, episodic television, and large format IMAX. The incredible definition around objects also makes it ideal for working with green screens and VFX, including compositing live action and CGI.
The URSA Mini Pro 12K camera presents a challenge in virtual production environments due to the high frequencies emitted by the LED matrix in video walls. This interference can create patterns that cause problems for modern ultra-sharp lenses and high-resolution sensors. However, the use of an optical low pass filter (OLPF) can minimize this interference and reduce moire and aliasing. To address this issue, the URSA Mini Pro 12K OLPF comes equipped with a high-performance filter that is specifically designed to match the 12K sensor. The OLPF also features updated IR filtering that enhances far red color response. When combined with Blackmagic RAW processing, this results in improved color and image detail, providing a new level of image fidelity.
The URSA Mini Pro 12K's extreme resolution surpasses that of traditional motion picture film and provides a range of benefits, including incredible detail, wide dynamic range, and rich, deep color. It is ideal for use in feature films, episodic television, and large-format IMAX projects. The camera's high-definition capabilities make it ideal for use in green screen and VFX work, enabling seamless compositing of live-action and CGI.
Blackmagic Generation 5 Color Science is another feature that enhances the camera's performance. It includes a new film curve that optimizes the use of the vast amount of color data from the URSA Mini Pro 12K sensor, resulting in more pleasing skin tones and better rendering of highly saturated colors, such as neon signs and car tail lights. This color science informs complex Blackmagic RAW image processing, with metadata used to preserve color and dynamic range data from the sensor for use in post-production. Generation 5 Color Science is also compatible with previously shot Blackmagic RAW files, allowing customers to utilize the new film curve even with their existing work.
URSA Mini Pro also offers flexibility with its interchangeable lens mount, allowing customers to quickly switch between PL, EF, and F mount lenses on the URSA Mini Pro 12K, as well as B4 lenses on the URSA Mini Pro 4.6K G2. This feature enables customers to work with a wide range of professional lenses, including high-quality large PL cinema lenses, EF or F mount photographic lenses, and even B4 broadcast lenses.
